西藏民族大学（Xizang Minzu University）位于陕西咸阳，是国务院批准的首批具有学士学位授予权单位，是西藏自治区人民政府与国家民族宗教事务委员会共建高校，中西部高校基础能力建设工程一期入选高校，华东师范大学对口支援高校，全国深化创新创业教育改革示范高校。[1]
学校是西藏和平解放后党中央在祖国内地为西藏创办的第一所高等学校。前身为1957年中央指示创办、1958年9月开学的“西藏公学”，是西藏和平解放后党中央在祖国内地为西藏创办的第一所高等学校。1965年4月30日，经国务院批准更名为“西藏民族学院”。2015年4月，经教育部批准更名为“西藏民族大学”。
截至2019年7月，学校有渭城、秦汉两个校区，并在拉萨建有实践教学基地，校园面积1149亩，下设14个教学单位、54个本科专业；拥有11个硕士一级学科，10个硕士专业学位授权点；教职工1200多人，专任教师700多人，在校生9900多人，其中研究生600多人，藏族和其他少数民族学生占53%。

Xizang Minzu University, located in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, is one of the first universities authorized by the State Council to confer bachelor's degrees. It is a University jointly built by the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region and the National Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission. It is a University selected in the First Phase of the Basic Ability Construction Project for Universities in Central and Western China. A national model university for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education. [1]
The university was the first Tibetan institution of higher learning established in the mainland of China by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China after the peaceful liberation of Tibet. The former "Tibet Public School", founded under the instruction of the Central Committee in 1957 and opened in September 1958, was the first institution of higher learning for Tibet in the mainland after the peaceful liberation of Tibet by the Party Central Committee. On April 30, 1965, it was renamed "Tibet Institute for Nationalities" with the approval of the State Council. In April 2015, it was renamed "Xizang Minzu University" with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
As of July 2019, the university has two campuses in Weicheng and Qin and Han, as well as a practical teaching base in Lhasa. The campus covers an area of 1,149 mu, with 14 teaching units and 54 undergraduate majors. It has 11 first-level disciplines for master's degree and 10 professional master's degree authorization centers. There are more than 1,200 faculty members, 700 full-time teachers and 9,900 students on campus, among whom 600 are postgraduates. Students from Tibetan and other ethnic minorities account for 53 percent. [1]
